Miami Heat: Former NBA Champion Discreetly Discusses Playing in South Beach

Despite their disappointing end to the 2023–24 NBA season, the Miami Heat appear eager to return to South Beach and contend for the championship with veteran point guard Patty Mills. Mills was eliminated by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, and the team went on to win the league cup.

From the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Ira Winderman:

When asked if he would have preferred to play for the Heat again, the 2014 NBA champion with the San Antonio

“I’ve really enjoyed it and learned a lot at the same time. Who knows what’s going to happen, but I definitely tried to absorb as much as I could,” he said. “Look, I’ve really appreciated my time here at the Heat, and have really come to understand what this organisation is really about.”

After being dismissed by the Atlanta Hawks in late February, Mills was picked up by the Heat in March of last year. During the Heat’s regular season, he played in just 13 games, scoring 5.8 points and dishing out 1.5 assists in 16.4 minutes per game on average. The 2014 NBA champion played in 32 games, averaging just 4.0 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 13.0 minutes, not including his stint with the Hawks.
