Luke Keary’s telling admission about Latrell Mitchell amid calls for State of Origin recall

Luke Keary is the perfect person to consult when NSW coach Michael Maguire is debating whether to take a chance on selecting Latrell Mitchell for State of Origin II. For the second game of the series in Melbourne, Maguire will need to find a new center because Joseph Suaalii has been suspended for four games. Bradman Best, who shone in last year’s Game III, is getting close to recovering from an injury, and Sharks center Jesse Ramien is still a possibility. However, a resounding majority of supporters and analysts are demanding that Mitchell be recalled for the first time since 2021.

Maguire apparently wasn’t sure how committed the Souths player was to the Blues’ cause, which is why Mitchell wasn’t selected for Game I. It is believed by Maguire that Mitchell is more concerned with getting the Rabbitohs back up the NRL ladder than he is with the Blues winning the Origin shield.
