He went on to say that the team had only been together for a few months in its current form, but they had achieved amazing success. While there is disappointment in not winning, Luka expressed his admiration for every member of the organisation and their journey.

I feel fantastic. We made some excellent movements. I would say we had been together for around five months. I’m proud of every player on the court, every coach, and everyone behind the scenes. Obviously, we did not win the finals. But we had one hell of a season. And I am proud of everyone.

“Doncic, despite his struggles, performed well in the NBA Finals. Over 5 games, Doncic averaged 29.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. The Mavericks were just not equipped to beat the Celtics in a 7-game series, as the Celtics just had too much star power on the court, with 5 former All-Stars in their squad.

Moving forward, the Mavericks intend to make a fresh start. They made personnel changes during the trade deadline, and it paid off because they advanced to the NBA Finals. The Mavs must now strengthen their team in order to effectively compete in the highly competitive Western Conference.
