According to reports, a Leeds United supporter who attacked Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe during a Premier League game in May received a jail sentence.

The Leeds Magistrates Court has sentenced 35-year-old David Derbyshire,of Marley Street in Beeston, to 12 weeks in prison and issued him a six-year football ban.

Derbyshire has been permanently barred from Leeds United as a result of this event, highlighting a zero-tolerance policy for such behavior.

On July 21, the accused entered a guilty plea to the charges.

After the incident, Howe expressed his disbelief to BT Sport, saying, “That was a great surprise. I was paying attention to the game. You wouldn’t believe it could happen, yet it did.

“I’m not able to repeat what he said, but it makes you wonder, ‘What if?’. It affected me personally. Because it was such a bizarre event, I can’t recall if he pushed me or not. Things like that cause you to reflect.
