Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is gearing up for his sixth NBA season, but his offseason took a slightly different turn this year as he had less opportunity to train with teammate Bam Adebayo.

Herro shared with Forbes’ Mat Issa that he and Adebayo usually train together during the offseason due to their close proximity. However, Adebayo’s participation with Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics meant he had limited time to work out with Herro.

Issa notes, “Herro previously mentioned how he and Adebayo are transitioning from emerging stars to seasoned veterans. Living near each other in Miami, they typically spend a lot of time training at each other’s homes during the off-season.”

Despite Adebayo being a few years senior, the two share a strong connection, having both played under John Calipari at the University of Kentucky and being integral to the Heat’s 2019-20 NBA Finals run as young talents.

Now, Herro and Adebayo are aiming to secure a championship for Miami, having reached the Finals twice in their careers. Although Herro missed out on training sessions with Adebayo due to the Olympics, he expressed his excitement for Adebayo’s gold medal achievement.

Herro stated, “It was thrilling to see him represent the country and win the Gold medal. Knowing all the hard work we’ve put in together, it’s amazing to see him take on a larger role with both Team USA and the Heat. I’m thrilled for him and look forward to reuniting on the court.”

For the Heat to make another Finals appearance in the 2024-25 season, keeping Herro healthy will be crucial. The former Sixth Man of the Year was limited to 42 games last season due to injuries but still averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game.

With both Herro and Adebayo central to Miami’s lineup, the future looks promising for the franchise. The team is focused on strengthening their chemistry with star Jimmy Butler to ensure a successful return to the playoffs.

Although Adebayo and Herro missed some training time together, they are expected to resume their workouts ahead of the Heat’s training camp later this year.
