A rival of the Green Bay Packers signs a record-breaking contract.
The big contract extension that the Green Bay Packers are about to offer Joran Love is almost here. Many predict that his contract will rank among the top ten best paid NFL quarterbacks. That would mean his contract’s floor would be about $40 million a year.
Not every NFC North team, though, is signing a big contract this off-season, including the Packers.
A rival of the Green Bay Packers promises a record-breaking contract.
As stated by The Detroit Free Press’s Dave Birkett:
Amon-Ra St. Brown was the 2021 NFL draft steal; he has grown each season in terms of statistics, and he will now spend the most of his time as a receiver with the Detroit Lions.
According to a person familiar with the issue, St. Brown signed a four-year contract deal for over $120 million with the Lions on Wednesday, making him the highest-paid receiver in football in terms of average yearly value. Since they are not allowed to talk about the arrangement in public, the source asked to remain anonymous.
Based to NFL Network, St. Brown is expected to get a guaranteed $77 million.
Mike Evans ($26 million), Cooper Kupp ($26.7 million), Davante Adams ($28 million), and Tyreek Hill ($30 million) are the other top receiver contracts. St. Brown’s market-setting contract is anticipated to be superseded by a new one signed by Justin Jefferson.
The Packers Secondary Will See Amon-Ra St. Brown Twice A Year For A While
St. Brown embodied, in many respects, the hard-charging mentality that head coach Dan Campbell hopes his team would display. He caught 90 receptions for 912 yards in his debut season. Furthermore, since then, he has only become better.
St. Brown had an outstanding year, earning him a spot on the 2024 All-Pro first team. For 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns, it was a career-high 119 receptions for him. He also assisted Detroit in winning its first postseason match in many years. Their postseason adventure together in the postseason truly brought home how much quarterback Jared Goff has come to respect St. Brown.
He will be that offense’s mainstay for a very long time. The electrifying wide receiver has been mostly contained by the Packers. Amon-Ra St. Brown has 35 receptions for 382 yards and two scores in six games versus the Packers.
Only once, against Green Bay, has he completed a game with more over 100 yards. On January 9th, 2022, that occurred. For many years to come, this matchup will undoubtedly be entertaining to watch because to the Packers’ improved secondary.
