Harry Kane’s Tottenham buy-back clause explained as Daniel Levy uses Gareth Bale tactic

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane could complete a sensational return to Tottenham – with the England captain still dreaming of becoming the Premier League’s record scorer

Harry Kane would be available for Tottenham to sign, but only if he chose to play again in the Premier League.

Kane, 30, departed Tottenham for Bayern Munich during the summer transfer season after the two clubs reached an agreement on a £100 million transfer fee. The four-year contract the England captain signed with Bayern Munich includes four goals in his first four Bundesliga appearances.

Tuesday night at a fan conference, Daniel Levy, the chairman of Tottenham, was questioned if the club had included a buy-back clause in the sale of Kane to Bayern. Levy acknowledged that there was, but he didn’t go into great detail about how the clause might be used.

Kane left Tottenham to join Bayern in search of his first major trophy, and Spurs supporters would love to see him return. With 280 goals for Tottenham, Kane holds the record for the club. He has also accomplished this feat 59 times for England at the international level.

How the buy-back clause for Tottenham operates was disclosed by Sky Sports News. If another Premier League club makes a transfer offer to Bayern for Kane, Spurs are permitted to match it and begin contract negotiations with the player first.A similar clause was added by Tottenham eleven years ago to Gareth Bale’s transfer to Real Madrid. Although Bale returned to Spurs on loan for the 2020–21 season, that option wasn’t invoked because Madrid never accepted a transfer offer for Bale during his nine-year stay.

Before retiring from football, there is a significant probability that Kane will visit his native England. He has expressed a desire to surpass Alan Shearer’s record of 260 goals for the Premier League and has stated that he has his sights set on that mark. He has 47 goals less than where he is now.

People will talk about the record and Shearer, but I still have a lot of football left in my career, Kane has remarked. Right now, the focus is on making an impact here and pushing both the squad and myself to take this club to new heights.

Kane has also shown interest in returning to Tottenham. “It’s not a goodbye,” he stated after joining Bayern, “since you never know how things will turn out in the future… I’ll be in touch soon.
