Club owner breaks silence on double Aston Villa transfer with major update
Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Hull City’s owner issues double Villa deal update
Hull City owner Acun Ilicali says the club are close to finalising a deal for Aston Villa’s Jaden Philogene, while also negotiating a move for Keinan Davis.
Philogene’s future looks set to be away from Villa Park despite impressing during pre-season. He featured in Villa’s three friendlies in their US tour, and scored one goal.
There was hope the 21-year-old would establish a place in Unai Emery’s team after a short cameo in Villa’s opening game of the season at Newcastle. As for Davis, meanwhile, he is not part of Emery’s plans after returning from loan at Watford.
Hull’s owner Ilicali shed light on the transfer business and told Hull Live: “I can say that these are top, top players. I am using all of my efforts to finish these two deals. We are in the last stages of the deal, we are very near to finishing Philogene.
“With Davis, we came to a remarkable point in the transfer. Here, I have to thank Liam (Rosenior) because we started a journey with Liam, I’ve believed in him from the first minute and I felt he would be the perfect guy for our team’s future.
“He proved this with the way he plays football and the way he approached the players. I am using his big success in the deals I am doing, and thankfully, we have the best coach in the league. Thankfully, these clever boys understand Liam’s philosophy because they are watching us, they see that this team is playing high-quality football.”
Hull Live adds that the Tigers could pay “as much as £6million” for the pair’s services.
