GEORGE PREDICTS PROMISING SEASON FOR EVERTON
Gabby George believes Everton can lay the foundations for a great season this summer as the squad continue to ramp up their pre-season preparations.
The Blues began their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 win over Burnley on Sunday, with George enjoying her first outing since sustaining a hamstring injury in April.
After a difficult rehab over the summer months, George says she’s grateful to be back doing what she loves.
“It was great to be out on the pitch after a few months out,” the defender told evertonfc.com.
“It was nice to play with all of our new girls too and see how they fit into our system.
“It has been a bit of a rollercoaster over the summer, but I’m back fit now and that’s the main thing. I want to keep building on that over pre-season.”
George completed just over an hour of action alongside some new faces in the Blues starting line-up.
That experience out on the pitch with her new teammates filled George with optimism about what the group can accomplish in the upcoming season.
“It was an enjoyable game to start our campaign with. We played a lot of good football,” she continued.
“The key thing for these games is implementing what Brian wants for the new season and trying to get the new girls on the same wavelength.
“Thankfully, we have a good foundation to build on from our first game and I’m looking forward to seeing how we can continue to improve.
“Over these next few weeks, we want to get fitter, strengthen the foundation of this team and hopefully go on to have a really good season.”
