Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a number of strikers in recent months and Romelu Lukaku is reportedly on the radar.
Tottenham have recently sanctioned the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich and they will have to sign a quality replacement.
A report from Calcio Mercato claims that ‘preliminary contacts have already taken place’ between the two parties. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham decide to sign Lukaku this summer.
The 30-year-old Belgian has proven himself in the Premier League over the years and he could make an immediate impact at the North London club.
The Belgium international is clearly
unwonted at Chelsea and the Blues will look to offload him.
The report claims that the transfer could happen for a fee of around €45 million. But the player’s wage demands could scupper any potential move. Apparently, Lukaku earns around €10.8 million per season.
Tottenham are unlikely to shatter their wage structure in order to accommodate the 30-year-old striker and Lukaku would have to take a significant pay cut in order to seal a move to the Premier League club.
The striker has been linked with clubs like Inter Milan and Juventus in recent weeks as well. It will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.
The 30-year-old scored 14 goals across all competitions for Inter Milan last season and he helped them reach the final of the UEFA Champions League. He could prove to be a useful acquisition for Tottenham if the transfer goes through.
