Just in: Club request fresh £12m bid for everton target

Sky Sports News drop fresh Che Adams update after Everton table bid for Southampton striker

Southampton have told Everton that they want £18m to sell Che Adams this summer after receiving a £12m bid, report Sky Sports News.

While live on air (24 August), their reporter shared news that the Saints have changed their asking price for the Scotland international after it was initially reported that they wanted £15m to part ways.

But after three goals in the first three games of the season the Saints have upped their asking price with Everton still interested in doing a deal before the deadline next week.

“Southampton are wanting £18M to consider selling Che Adams. Everton have already bid £12M,” they said.

Desperate

Southampton know that Everton are desperate for a new striker and with Adams performing well in the Championship, they’re under little pressure to sell.

Right now the Scotland ace is set to be a free agent next summer, but Southampton will know that and if they can get him to perform between now and January they could still cash in or even convince him to sign a new contract.

Everton know that too and are wary of going too high considering his average goal record in the Premier League, but they need to bring in a new attacker or two before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.Southampton handed Che Adams injury concern ahead of Chelsea clash - Sports Mole

But if they’re going to keep moving the goalposts at this point of the window then who is to say that they won’t do that again if we match the £18m bid?

Ultimately we need a deal done but it has to suit us too, and the club can’t be shown to be pushovers despite the fact we’re desperate.

It’s a double-edged sword for sure, but one we can’t afford to caught out by. Tick tock.
