Blackburn Rovers are hopeful of fending off competition from Burnley, QPR and Preston North End to the signing of Derry Scherhant on loan from Hertha Berlin, according to Football Insider.
The 20-year-old has sparked a transfer tussle between the English clubs as the German side consider allowing the player to depart on loan to continue his development. He has had
to settle for Hertha Berlin’s second team this season but has already scored three goals and chipped in with an assist in only two games. He made 10 appearances for the senior side
in the Bundesliga scoring his first goal against Borussia Monchengladbach in February.
Blackburn Rovers are looking to bolster their attacking options after losing key players; Bradley Dack and Ben Brereton Diaz this summer. Scherhant could provide an additional
option for Jon Dahl Tomasson. QPR are looking to improve following a dismal campaign and take some pressure off Sinclair Armstrong who has been a shining light for Gareth
Ainsworth. Burnley are looking to maintain their Premier League status, adding 11 new players and spending in excess of £80 million with more rumoured signings expected to link
up with Vincent Kompany’s side. Preston North End are so far unbeaten in the league after two victories and one defeat.
Whether Hertha Berlin will allow the player to leave on loan this season remains to be seen however, if he is not going to have suitable game time with the German side, it may be
beneficial for his development to allow him to make the temporary switch and expose him to a high intensity league such as The Championship.

It is clear that the player has talent, however the fact he broke into the first team but didn’t maintain his spot could be a concern as to whether he is ready or not. The Championship
is still a highly competitive and strong league that can quickly swallow up a young player who isn’t ready. He is young enough however to take that risk but he has to kick on with his
development now if he wants to make it as a top flight player, or he could found himself spat out at 23 with little to no game time on his CV.
