The Geelong AFLW Best and Fairest award goes to Georgie Prespakis.
Young talent Georgie Prespakis has been given the ultimate award at her AFLW club, Geelong Cats, being crowed the Best and Fairest in what was a career-best season for the midfielder.
Prespakis had a hugely successful campaign with the Cats to build on top of her impressive debut season last year, averaging 24.2 disposals, 7.2 tackles and 6.6 clearances a game in 2023.
The 20-year-old went one better than 2022, wherein she was runner-up in the Best and Fairest award to teammate Amy McDonald (who had won the award three years in a row), this time beating both her and Nina Morrison.
Prespakis received 188 votes to take out the award, finishing ahead of Morrison with 163 votes and McDonald with 82.
The Greek-Australian talent ranked equal-third in the competition for average clearances (the aforementioned 6.6 per game), as well as sixth for contested possessions (13.7 per game) and equal-seventh for ground ball gets (9 per game).
The award caps off an immensely successful season for Prespakis and the club, who managed to make it all the way to the Preliminary Finals before losing to eventual premiers Brisbane Lions.
The young midfielder and the Cats will no doubt hope to go one step greater next year and take out the AFLW Premiership.
