Jorge Martín secured second place in the Australian MotoGP Grand Prix at Phillip Island, finishing ahead of his championship rival Francesco Bagnaia. Heading into the race, Martín led the championship by ten points. His performance extended that lead to 20 points, solidifying his position in the title race.
After the race, the Prima Pramac Racing rider shared his thoughts on the growing points gap: “I’ll take every opportunity to increase my lead,” Martín said, underscoring his determination as the season nears its conclusion.
Martín also enjoyed the on-track battle with Bagnaia, a rare occurrence in their season-long duel: “It was great to have a small battle with Pecco. Usually, one of us pulls away, so it was nice to be competing closely, even if only for a lap. I enjoyed that moment.”
Despite the current points advantage, Martín remains cautious about future races. The competition has been unpredictable, with both riders trading points throughout the season. “Last week, I lost 11 points, this week I gained 10. Next week? We don’t know. So, we need to stay focused, taking it one race at a time,” he explained, highlighting the uncertainties in the remaining rounds.
The title race between Martín and Bagnaia remains intense, with each rider showing resilience and skill. As the season progresses, every point counts, and Martín knows the importance of maintaining consistency and focus in the upcoming races.
