In a recent move, the Toronto Blue Jays have claimed 26-year-old right-handed pitcher Nick Robertson off waivers from the Angels. Over the past two seasons, Robertson has made 34.2 innings of major league appearances, with a challenging ERA of 6.49. His performance at the Triple-A level this year hasn’t been much better, recording a 7.27 ERA while playing for both the Cardinals and the Angels. However, he brings a notable fastball, consistently reaching speeds of 95-98 mph, along with a changeup described by Baseball America as having a “heavy tumble and fade,” and a slider.
Standing at an imposing 6 feet 6 inches and weighing 265 pounds, Robertson is a physically commanding presence on the mound. The Blue Jays will need to make a corresponding move on their 40-man roster to accommodate his addition. This will involve designating another player for assignment.
Meanwhile, Adam Macko is set to take the mound for the Buffalo Bisons tonight, marking another move in the Blue Jays’ ongoing roster adjustments. The Bisons welcomed Macko with enthusiasm, as seen in their latest social media update.
