Italy will alter their defense in two significant ways against the Swiss.

Prior to Gli Azzurri’s competitive-looking Euro 2024 last-16 match against Switzerland on Saturday evening, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has provided an important team report. The former Napoli manager will make adjustments to the starting lineup that made it into the knockout stages since a number of first-team players are dealing with illnesses and ailments.

In the crucial group-stage match against Croatia, Federico Dimarco prevailed in the battle against time to assist Italy secure a 1-1 draw. The Inter player will have to watch the match against Switzerland from the stands, having paid a heavy price for straining himself to the limit. Most likely, Matteo Darmian, his clubmate, will replace him.

The left-back with an aggressive mentality is not eligible to play on Saturday, according to Spalletti.

He stated, “Dimarco won’t be there,” according to Calciomercato.

However, given that Spalletti tried out Dimarco as a winger and Darmian started the match against Croatia as a left-back, Italy shouldn’t have any issues. However, it didn’t work out.

The absence of Riccardo Calafiori of Bologna, who received two yellow cards during the group stage, is another issue for Italy. In the center of Spalletti’s defense, Calafioi teamed with Alessandro Bastoni, and it will presumably be up to Roma veteran Gianluca Mancini to cover for him.

Calafiori is replaced by Mancini. In this instance, I want to play with a right on the right and a left-footed player on the left since he has the experience. That’s how I like it,” the Italian leader said in closing.
