The news that Pompey supporters have been waiting for is finally here: Marlon Pack, their adored captain, has agreed to a new deal that will keep him a Blue for the next two seasons at the very least.
Pack, 33, returned to PO4 in 2022, eleven years after first splitting from the Blues. He led the team to League One victory the previous season, playing in 39 games across all competitions.
Head coach John Mousinho of Pompey discussed the significance of securing Pack’s future at Fratton Park in a statement posted on the team’s website. As the Blues get ready to play in the Championship again, he talked about how important it is to have him around the dressing room.
“After everything Marlon has done for this football club since coming back a few years ago, it was crucial for us to close this deal,” Mousinho remarked.
“He produced some strong performances in what was such a successful season for us and lifted the League One trophy as captain. A lifelong Blues supporter, Pack graduated from the Pompey academy in 2011 and went on to enjoy successful stints with Cheltenham, Bristol City, and Cardiff. Since returning to the club two summers ago, the midfielder has been playing at his best. In addition to winning the League One title and promotion last season, Pack was named in the League One Team of the Season at the EFL awards.
