All the latest injury news as Liverpool prepare for their first European outing of the season against LASK

Liverpool defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-1 on Saturday afternoon to seal their successful re-entry into the Premier League.

The win, which saw Liverpool momentarily retake first place in the Premier League standings for the first time since May 2022, and Ibrahima Konate’s return from injury were positives for Jurgen Klopp.

Due to a hamstring injury he sustained against Bournemouth, the Frenchman missed the wins over Newcastle United and Aston Villa last month. He was then forced to withdraw from France’s team for their September international matches.

Here, the ECHO takes a look at the expected return dates of the Reds’ absentees.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is presently recovering from a little hamstring injury he suffered in the last minutes of the Reds’ 3-0 triumph over Aston Villa last month. The 24-year-old was consequently left out of England’s squad for their international games against Scotland and Ukraine. Jarell Quansah took his place that particular afternoon at Anfield.

There was a positive update on the right-back’s situation last week, though, when he was pictured wearing boots at the AXA Training Centre on Thursday. However, Alexander-Arnold did not take part in any team training sessions prior to Saturday’s trip to Molineux.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, Klopp outlined his hopes for Alexander-Arnold to resume ball work at the Reds’ Kirkby base prior to Thursday’s trip to Austria to face LASK. Although it is highly unlikely to be involved in the Reds’ travelling contingent.

“He didn’t train with the team once yet and will take a little bit. It is not the worst hamstring injury, but it’s a hamstring injury, and they barely heal in two weeks,” Klopp told reporters on September 15. “He is running already; we hope he can start ball work early next week.”

Thiago Alcantara

Meanwhile, Thiago is waiting to make his first Premier League appearance in five months after suffering a setback in his recovery from hip surgery.

The Spaniard has not featured for the Reds since April’s 2-1 victory at West Ham United but had been pictured back in training earlier this month, with Klopp revealing his hope at having the midfielder to choose from after the September international break.

However, on Friday the Reds boss revealed that Thiago was only running at the AXA Centre and was in fact not carrying out any ball work individually or with the rest of the squad.

Thiago is now seemingly a doubt for Thursday’s Europa League fixture against LASKin Austria.

Expected return date: Unknown

Conor Bradley

After flashes of promise during pre-season, Conor Bradley suffered a stress fracture in his back.

He will be sidelined for around three months, with his inclusion in squads likely to be monitored in order to avoid further issues.

The young full-back showed potential with pre-season performances in Germany, playing 90 minutes over the course of two fixtures. He was then left out of the group that travelled to Singapore following a minor, unspecified injury and has not featured in any matchday squads since the start of the season.

Virgil van Dijk missed Liverpool’s last two Premier League games through suspension after he was sent off during the last-gasp victory at St James’ Park last month

The Reds’ captain initially received a one-game ban for his mistimed challenge on Alexander Isak but was later banned for a further game after admitting to an FA charge for his reaction to being shown a red card by referee John Brooks.

Saturday’s trip to Molineux was the Dutch international’s final suspension and therefore he will be back available for Sunday’s Premier League game against West Ham United. He could also feature in Thursday’s Europa League opener against LASK.
