Yoon Ina, who finished second in the 2022 KLPGA competition, is making a comeback to the McCol-Mona Park Yongpyong Open, which will take place at Birch Hill Country Club in Gangwon on Friday.

Yoon enters the 132-field for the 54-stroke play event, which is a three-day event with a prize fund of 144 million won ($103,000).

Her three-year suspension, which was shortened to eighteen months earlier this year, kept her off the Tour the previous season. This year, however, she is back in the competition.

In the opening round of the DB Group Korea Women’s Open Golf Championship on June 16, 2022, the 21-year-old made a mistake with the ball and was suspended for three years by the Korea Golf Association (KGA) and the KLPGA.

Yoon hasn’t won a championship this season, but she has been in terrific form since making her comeback, finishing five times in the top ten in 11 KLPGA events.

She first gained recognition in the McCol-Mona Park Yongpyong Open in 2022, where she finished as runner-up. This could be her opportunity to reverse that.

“It will be a little tough because I competed in all 14 events in 2024, but I’ve saved my stamina, so I’m still in good form,” Ko stated on Tuesday in a press release.

“I played aggressively, trying to make birdies, but my tournament play has improved over time.”

Lee Ye-won, who has already won three KLPGA titles this year, and Park, the BC Card Cup champion, will be competing to increase the level of competition in the tournament.

Lee remarked, “I’ve been maintaining a strong flow with better momentum than last year.”

“I am trying not to be too greedy, but it would be good to win my fourth title before the first half of the season finishes.”
