Steelers Add Two Defenders for Ravens Game
The Pittsburgh Steelers elevate two veterans for Week 18.
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are elevating safety Eric Rowe and inside linebacker Myles Jack for a third time, calling both veterans up from the practice squad to play in their Week 18 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Steelers have called up both players the last two weeks, utilizing both as starters. Jack even wore the green dot last week with Elandon Roberts was out due to a pectoral injury. But even with Roberts and Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) listed as questionable with hopes of returning, Pittsburgh is adding their two practice squad vets to the roster.
In two games with the Steelers, Rowe has contributed 17 tackles and an interception to the defense. Jack has added 14 tackles, a sack and a tackle for loss to his resume in those two weeks.
With this being both players’ third elevation to the active/inactive roster, Pittsburgh will need to sign both players to the 53-man roster if they make the playoffs. They will not be able to elevate either one a fourth time.
Roberts told reporters he’s expecting to play against the Ravens, but Jack is likely the starter lining up next to him. If Fitzpatrick plays, the Steelers will likely start he and Patrick Peterson at safety with Rowe coming off the bench.
