Philadelphia Eagles fans get married during tailgate before Dallas Cowboys game
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A South Jersey couple found a creative way to combine their love for the Philadelphia Eagles and each other.
They tied the knot during a tailgate in South Philadelphia before the Eagles hosted the Dallas Cowboys.
Right there in Lincoln Financial Field’s parking lot was a unique wedding.
Just before the pivotal NFC East match, Oaklyn, Camden County residents Brooke Rittner, 45, and Rob Rittner, 48, exchanged vows. For many devoted Eagles supporters, it’s their second marriage.
“What a fantastic day it has been. It’s been fantastic,” stated Brooke Rittner.
There were a few hitches along the road, though, just like with any ideal wedding.
“Parking was a problem. I was getting phone calls,” Rob Rittner said.
“But there were so many Good Samaritans because we’re in Philadelphia,” Brooke Rittner said. “Like, my mom was like, ‘I need to get to my daughter’s wedding’ and like, somebody like, literally, like, parked her car and like, ran her over here.”
The Eagles gifted the newlyweds a matching set of jerseys, autographed by Jason Kelce for his 36th birthday, the same day as the wedding.
After the ceremony, guests stuck around for a watch party to cheer on the Birds.
What made the day even more special — two former Eagles players attended the wedding. Former cornerback Lito Sheppard and former wide receiver Fred Barnett were all smiles as they paused for a photo with guests.
“I’m here for Rob and Brooke and I absolutely love them as a couple. They are the most perfect couple in the world,” Jenny Simpson said.
The night ended with an Eagles victory over the Cowboys – the cherry on top of an unforgettable day.
