As the free agency window approaches, the Golden State Warriors have been unable to reach an agreement with Klay Thompson. Since it doesn’t look like anything major will change in the next 24 hours, the five-time All-Star’s departure from the Bay Area is likely to happen. Although this is undoubtedly a tragic event for the people of Dub Nation, it has been coming for a while.

The Athletic provided a thorough analysis by Shams Charania and Anthony Slater that included the most recent information on Thompson’s future with the Warriors. Golden State did not appear to present an offer for the 34-year-old.

According to reports, the front office was preoccupied with other issues, and Thompson’s contract dispute was supposed to be handled when more pressing issues were resolved.

Klay “isn’t anticipated to be there waiting as a willing secondary priority in their summer plan, with his side feeling that the Warriors’ desire in a reunion has been disingenuous,” according to Charania and Slater.

Sadly, this is not a brand-new story. Since witnessing the Warriors take the required actions to ostensibly usher in a new era without him over the past couple of years, it appears that Thompson has been feeling ignored and underappreciated.
