Loris Karius has sent a four-word message to his former Newcastle United teammate Karl Darlow after he completed his move to Leeds United.
The 32-year-old signed for the Whites for an undisclosed fee on 29 July (official website) after penning a three-year deal to end the club’s long pursuit of a new first-team goalkeeper.
Darlow took to Instagram to pay tribute to the Magpies and admitted how “incredibly tough” it had been to leave the club, with ex-Liverpool keeper Karius responding to the post by saying “All the best bro”.
It’s clear to see from the numerous comments from Newcastle players past and present – including Karius – that Darlow was a popular member of the team over a number of years.
Despite not being at the club for too long, the German goalkeeper would have worked closely with his former teammate for a number of months before he headed out on loan to Hull City in the second half of last season.
Magpies boss Eddie Howe spoke very highly of Darlow during a recent press conference and said he would move on from the club with his best wishes.
The message the keeper put on Instagram shows that it was hard for him to leave Tyneside after spending nine years there since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2014, having made 100 appearances for the club and playing an important role in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2016-17 season.
He will now be looking forward to playing his part in achieving that same goal at Elland Road in the upcoming campaign.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are looking to include a sell-on clause as one Euro club are looking to sign their defender.
