Even if the Celtics defeat the Mavericks in Game 5, Luka Doncic will undoubtedly create NBA history.

Luka Doncic will undoubtedly create NBA history if the Boston Celtics defeat the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night.

Doncic has all but secured the top spot in points, assists, rebounds, and steals for the 2024 postseason, regardless of how long the best-of-seven set goes.

During the Mavericks’ drive to the NBA Finals and four games into the championship round, the 25-year-old has scored 607 points while also grabbing 196 rebounds, 173 assists, and 38 steals.

Uncle Drew won’t be able to overtake regular-season scoring leader Kyrie Irving unless his teammate has an injury in Game 5 and Dallas manages to extend the series to seven games. Irving is currently second in the playoffs with 472 points.

Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers is second in the playoff assists race with 123, but he trails Doncic much too much with 108 assists, which belongs to Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.

The closest chance anyone would have to dash Doncic’s chance at individual history (though still unrealistic) is where Tatum is 20 rebounds behind his counterpart at 176 boards. Minnesota Timberwolves standout Anthony Edwards is second behind the Slovenian at 24 steals, with Irving well behind his backcourt mate at 22.

During the 2024 postseason, Doncic leads the Association in a number of other categories, including turnovers (83) win shares (2.9), field goals made and attempted (213, 479), three-point field goals made and attempted (66, 202), and free throws attempted (115, 148).
