In the summer transfer window, West Ham sold Nikola Vlasic, a player from Croatia, to Torino.
Nikola Vlasic left CSKA Moscow for West Ham in the summer of 2021, but he had trouble settling in at the London Stadium.
In the summer of 2022, the 25-year-old was given to Torino on loan for the entire season.
And this summer, for about £8 million (6 feet 2), Vlasic (6 foot 2) permanently transferred from the Hammers to Torino.
When he left the club, the Croatian’s agent ripped West Ham to shreds for how the team treated his client.
Selling him in the summer appears to have been a perfect move for the Hammers.
After Croatia snubbed Latvia 5-0 last night and Nikola Vlasic was allowed just 30 minutes of play, West Ham made the proper option to sell him for a significant loss. He had the third-worst match rating of all the Croatian players, 6.5, according to FotMob.
It was obvious to me that the 25-year-old was just unsuited for the Premier League
It was a bizarre signing by Moyes in the first place, but at least he rectified that error quickly.
Vlasic may well be suited to playing in Serie A but he just wasn’t robust enough for English football.
The 25-year-old is not a terrible player, West Ham was was just a real bad fit for him.
Nikola Vlasic getting snubbed by the Croatia manager for a place in the starting XI last night, and then stinking out the place was further evidence that Moyes got it spot on by selling him.
Edson Alvarez of West Ham United got into a heated argument with his opponent yesterday during a tense international match.
In a less-than-friendly match, Mexico took on Australia, and Edson Alvarez of West Ham grabbed center stage for his nation.
The 25-year-old was acquired by Hammers manager David Moyes from Ajax during the summer transfer window for approximately £34 million.
And he already appears to be a fantastic addition for West Ham.
He exhibits extreme aggression and appears to be made for the English game. Last month, during a friendly match in Texas, USA, versus Australia, that approach was manifested in spades.
Edson Alvarez, a West Ham hothead, got into a fight with an opponent during a heated international match.
The Australian striker Mitch Duke and the Mexican got into a violent argument when Duke challenged the Mexican by elevating his boot high.
Duke and Alvarez squared up, but in the end, nothing was gained.
Since he has received four red cards in his career to date, he will undoubtedly need to learn to control his aggression at times, but to be fair, it is just what we have been lacking lately.
Over the previous few years, as a team, we have occasionally been way too accommodating.
But now that West Ham has Edson Alvarez, they have a little bit more bite in the middle of the park.
He’ll definitely be a star for us, in my opinion.
