Collingwood Football Club has made a significant addition to its roster, officially signing delisted St Kilda forward Tim Membrey on a two-year contract. This announcement coincides with the start of the delisted free agency period, marking the first signing for the Magpies as they look to enhance their offensive capabilities ahead of the 2025 season. Membrey joins the Magpies as he transitions to his third AFL club, just weeks after departing from St Kilda.

The 30-year-old forward brings with him an impressive track record, having been the leading goal scorer for St Kilda on three occasions. In 2024, he demonstrated his scoring prowess by netting 30 goals, placing him second on the Saints’ goal list for the year. Over his career with St Kilda, Membrey accumulated a total of 293 goals across 178 matches, narrowly missing a spot in the club’s all-time top ten goal scorers.

Tim Membrey began his AFL journey with the Sydney Swans, having been drafted in 2012. However, his time in Sydney was short-lived, with just one senior game over two seasons. After being delisted by the Swans, Membrey returned to Victoria and secured a position with St Kilda, where he flourished as a key player.

As Membrey joins Collingwood, he will bolster an already talented forward lineup that includes players like Brody Mihocek, Dan McStay, Bobby Hill, Lachie Schultz, and Beau McCreery. His addition aims to refine the team’s attacking strategies and enhance their competitiveness in the upcoming season.

In a statement, Justin Leppitsch, Collingwood’s Head of Football Strategy, expressed enthusiasm about Membrey’s arrival. He emphasized that the club has been in talks with Membrey for some time and views him as an essential asset. Beyond his athletic skills, Leppitsch highlighted Membrey’s leadership qualities, stating that they will be a valuable addition to the team’s culture. As Membrey and his family prepare to integrate into the Collingwood community, fans eagerly anticipate his contributions to the club in the forthcoming pre-season training sessions.
