Celtic FC is extending its collaboration with Admira Wacker, the Austrian feeder club, by sending two of its promising young players on loan for the upcoming season. This ongoing experiment, which began last year, has proven beneficial for player development, providing those in transition from the Celtic B team to the senior squad with valuable match experience. The focus of this loan arrangement is to help these players bridge the gap to the first team at Celtic.

The latest loan recipients are Matthew Anderson and Ben Summers. Anderson, a left-back, is returning to Admira Wacker for a second season after making a notable impact last year with one goal and six assists in 21 league appearances. His performance has set high expectations for this season, as he aims to make a significant leap toward securing a spot in Celtic’s first team next year. Ben Summers, an attacking midfielder, joins him in Austria, having previously played on loan at Dunfermline Athletic where he contributed with two goals and two assists in 20 appearances.

Admira Wacker has expressed enthusiasm about the arrival of these players. Sporting Director Peter Stoger highlighted Anderson’s impressive display last season and is excited to have him back. Stoger also praised Summers for bringing fresh energy to the midfield, believing both players will make a substantial impact on Admira Wacker’s performance this season.

Celtic’s manager Brendan Rodgers is focused on refining the pathway from the club’s academy to the first team. This development is crucial, especially as Celtic strengthens its squad with new signings, such as the £11m addition of Arne Engels. With increased competition for places, breaking into the first team has become more challenging, emphasizing the importance of these loan spells for young talents like Anderson and Summers.

As Celtic continues to invest in its youth and forge strategic partnerships, the hope is that these experiences will prepare Anderson and Summers for future roles in the senior squad. The club remains committed to nurturing its young talent, ensuring that they are well-prepared for the demands of top-flight football.
