Since appointing JJ Redick as head coach, the Los Angeles Lakers have led the 2024 NBA offseason. As the 29th head coach in club history, Redick will try to lead this storied team back to the top. Although he doesn’t have the support of many Laker legends and graduates, like as five-time champion Earvin “Magic” Johnson, the path ahead won’t be simple.
Johnson offered his opinion on social media on the newest hire, as he always does. Regarding the new hire, Johnson says he is “cautiously optimistic”.
Johnson is not alone in feeling this way, therefore it’s reasonable that he does. About JJ Redick’s employment, opinions are divided into two categories: those who support it and those who oppose it.
We cannot hold those who detest it accountable. Redick has never had a coaching position. In addition to being a member of ESPN’s top commentary team and starting his own podcast, The Old Man and the Three and the Mind The Game, with co-host LeBron James, he played in the NBA for fifteen seasons. You have to wonder what the Lakers were considering when they made this decision.
It’s obvious why people who adore it feel that way. One of the sharpest NBA brains we have ever seen is Redick. His X’s and O’s approach to the game and the contemporary style he will bring to the Lakers have repeatedly demonstrated this on his podcast, particularly the Mind The Game podcast. He is highly valued by the Lakers brass, and his upside is enormous.
Redick’s job will be made simpler if the Lakers brass can do their job and provide him a legitimate squad, even though it won’t come all at once.
