BREKING NEWS:Liverpool manager makes decision on future amid speculation linking him with Germany job

In the space of a week Liverpool could have lost both Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp – Salah has ended up staying, but what about Klopp?

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has offered an update on his future at Anfield through the medium of his agent, as the Germany job remains vacant.

While Jurgen Klopp has three years left o

n his contract at Liverpool, Germany has put him at the top of their shortlist to become the country’s next manager ahead of the home Euros next summer, following the resignation of Hansi Flick on Saturday following Germany’s 4-1 loss to Japan.

The German FA reportedly initiated talks with Klopp to try to give him the vacant position, with vice-president Hans-Joachim Watzke discussing the role informally with the German boss. Watzke recruited Klopp to Borussia Dortmund in 2008, hoping to entice him to join the national team.

However, Klopp’s representative, Marc Kosicke, has stated that any approach about the Germany manager’s job will ultimately fail.

“Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and is not available for the national coaching position,” Kosicke said, according to Sportschau.Jurgen Klopp reacts to Mohammed Salah's 'no excuse' tweet | The Independent

Klopp extended his contract with Liverpool for another two years in April 2022, with his original contract set to expire in 2024. Klopp plans to honor his new contract until the conclusion of the 2025/26 season and has so refused the Germany position.

As a result, Julian Nagelsmann appears to be the frontrunner to replace Hansi Flick and lead Germany to the 2024 Euros. Bayern Munich has previously stated that they will release the 36-year-old from his contract with the club, which is valid until 2026, without asking the German FA for a price.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be hoping that their rebuild under Klopp returns them to winning trophies and fighting for the Premier League and Champions League.

Four new additions were made in the summer to help with squad rejuvenation, while turning down a £150 million approach from Saudi Arabia for Mohamed Salah demonstrates the club’s aspirations for the coming seasons.
