Tyler Adams’ Transfer to Chelsea Has Broken Down

Transfer market drama around Stamford Bridge continues as the latest reports suggest that the transfer of the USMNT captain has hit a brick wall. The 2019 Champions League winners were looking to trigger a relegation clause in the Leeds player’s contract which made the player available for a fee of £20 million. The clubs had agreed both the terms of the transfer and an agreement between the player and the Blues.

Despite the deal being very close to completion, recent developments in the transfer market have resulted in the cancellation of the deal according to Sheth. The UK-based journalist wrote: “Sky Sports News understands talks have broken down over Tyler Adams’ proposed move from Leeds to Chelsea after the parties were unable to reach an agreement. Chelsea had triggered the £20m release clause. Adams now expected to return to Leeds”

Knock-on Effect of Caicedo Saga?

The transfer saga of the Ecuadorian midfielder took massive twists recently with the midfielder rejecting a Liverpool transfer at the last moment to favour a move to League rivals Chelsea. Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp publicly confirmed that the deal was agreed before the player made a shocking decision to favour the Blues from London.

This seems to have caused a knock-on effect on Adams’ transfer since the Stamford Bridge outfit had agreed on the transfer when Caicedo was not guaranteed to join them. Although the Brighton man’s transfer is not yet officially done, it seems unlikely that there will be any more twists. Leeds’ American had even completed a part of his medical tests as reported by Fabrizio Romano. The Italian journalist gave an update saying that the deal is off due to the Stamford Bridge side’s full focus on the signing of the Brighton midfielder.
