European side preparing late offer for Aston Villa midfielder
Fenerbahce are allegedly exploring a late bid for Aston Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker ahead of Friday’s Turkish league transfer deadline.
Dendoncker, 28, has battled to establish himself as a regular under Unai Emery despite only joining from Wolves last year.
Dendoncker has started just nine Premier League games since the start of last season, and with Fenerbahce ready to give more minutes, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the Belgian agree to a move.
However, before any of that can happen, Aston Villa must receive a formal offer, which has yet to happen, according to Football Insider, and with Friday’s deadline fast approaching, if the Turkish giants are serious about recruiting the Villains’ number 32, they must act quickly.
Currently valued at around £15 million (Transfermarkt), Dendoncker, who has just under four years left on his contract, could be a relatively modest purchase. Whether or not Emery will let one of his senior midfielders leave without being able to sign a replacement remains to be seen though.
Aston Villa are braced for a departure of one of their players – despite the summer transfer window slamming shut for English clubs
Turkish giants Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Leander Dendoncker, according to reports. Football Insider claim that Fenerbahce are ‘readying a last-gasp move’ for the midfielder ahead of their transfer deadline. Turkey’s transfer window shuts on Friday, September 15, and could go through with a late push to sign the Belgian.
It is reported that he is ‘free to quit the club’ as he does not feature in Unai Emery’s plans following a series of signings in the centre-midfield area. Dendoncker’s Belgium teammate Youri Tielemans joined earlier this summer, whilst Nicolo Zaniolo joined at the end of August. Boubacar Kamara, Douglas Luiz and John McGinn meanwhile have played the most minutes out of the array of midfield options this term.
