Storylines for the New York Giants in Week 9: Where Do They Go From Here?
The Giants go to Las Vegas for their first destination on a three-week road trip. Can they ultimately overcome the misfortune that has crept into their 2023 campaign?
Moving forward and up. With nine games remaining in what has been an emotionally devastating 2023 season, that’s about all the 2-6 New York Giants, who were knocked in the stomach this past Sunday by the New York Jets’ incredible come-from-behind triumph in overtime.
Take each game as it comes and let the last week’s result go—that is the mantra head coach Brian Daboll has consistently instilled in his players, win or loss. When the players report for duty on Wednesday, it wouldn’t be shocking if the football operations’ first floor of the Quest Diagnostics Training Center is covered in reminders.
“The season is lengthy. There are nine games remaining, and there is still a lot of football to be played, according to second-year linebacker Micah McFadden. “We’ll never write ourselves off. Just keep up the good work, be ready for the next opponent each week, and attempt to figure out how to win a football game.”
The Giants have had difficulty lately finding a way to win because they have been a club that has performed the opposite. As difficult as it may be for the players to get back up after an emotionally taxing and unsuccessful struggle and do this again, if that is what it takes, then that is what they will do.
“I think we’ve got a group of fighters, dudes who are determined to go out and win a football game,” McFadden stated. “Over the past several weeks, we’ve played a few tight games. It’s tough mentally to bounce back after a game like that, but we just need to take things week by week, keep fighting, figure out how to win a couple games, and put some wins together.”
This game is expected to be a defensive struggle, just like the one last week, with the Raiders facing the league’s 32nd-ranked offense and the Giants facing the 31st-ranked offensive.
