On the evening of August 30, 2024, two separate fatal car accidents occurred on Arkansas highways, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. Preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police detail the unfortunate events that unfolded.

The first incident took place at approximately 6:52 p.m. in Glenwood. Lequeta Goodner, 78, and Evelyeen Ward, 97, both residents of Glenwood, lost their lives when their vehicle veered off Arkansas 8. According to the report, Goodner, who was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, was traveling west when she attempted to exit the highway. The vehicle apparently began to veer to the right, and Goodner overcorrected, causing the SUV to cross both lanes of traffic before leaving the road entirely. The vehicle then struck an embankment, leading to the fatal crash.

Later that evening, around 10:55 p.m., another tragic accident occurred near Alma on Interstate 49. Drew Weber, 39, from Westville, Oklahoma, was driving a 2014 Buick southbound when the vehicle left the road and collided with multiple trees. This collision resulted in Weber’s death, as reported by the state police.

The Arkansas State Police are investigating these accidents further to determine the causes and any contributing factors. These incidents serve as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and cautious driving, particularly during challenging driving conditions.
