The Tigers may want to consider the following five players when they open the transfer portal in 2024.

Hugh Freeze did an amazing job using the transfer portal last season to acquire players at positions of extreme need and acquire the starting quarterback for the Tigers. The Auburn Tigers will be looking to restock their roster this offseason. Right now, Auburn needs help in pretty much the same places: offensive line, receiver, and now defensive back becomes a big need for a secondary replacing a lot of pieces.

Here are five players currently in the transfer portal the Tigers could use in 2024.

OL Davion Carter (Memphis)

He finished the 2023 season with an offensive PFF grade of 79.4, good for 11th nationally. Carter has a pass block grade of 87.2 in 522 passing snaps. Very, very impressive numbers for a Group of Five offensive lineman.

Per On3, Carter played high school football at Pearl (MS), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 70 overall recruit in the 2020 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Before transferring to Memphis, Carter played his freshman season at Northwest Mississippi Community College.

WR Raymond Cottrell (Texas A&M)

Raymond Cottrell, Texas A&M, Wide ReceiverA six-foot-three, 210-pound freshman receiver from A&M is a valuable commodity in the transfer portal.

Cottrell only recorded one catch in his first season in college – a 13-yard touchdown catch against ULM – but in his senior year of high school he hauled in 46 passes for 651 yards and touchdowns.

Per Andrew Ivins of 247Sports, the former four-star WR “spent much of junior season lined up on the outside, but was utilized here and there as a wildcat quarterback and ended up finishing the year with 1,428 yards of offense (985 receiving, 311 rushing, 132 passing) and 17 total touchdowns (eight receiving, seven rushing, two passing) to his credit.”
