BREAKING NEWS: The TD Garden in Boston celebration of opening….

TD Garden officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to celebrate the opening of four new sensory rooms, making the Boston arena the only venue in the world with that many.

KultureCity is a nonprofit organization partnering with TD Garden to bring new resources to communities with sensory needs.

“A child can take a breath, get their moment back and then refocus,” said actor Pooch Hall, a celebrity ambassador for KultureCity, who has a daughter with cerebral palsy. “If someone scores a big bucket or a goal or touchdown, that can startle a handicapped child.”

“They have this dedicated space. They can have the tools that they need to just maybe get in a little bit of a better place,” said TD Garden president Amy Latimer.

The sensory rooms include comforting colors and soothing items such as bubble walls and Yogibo bean bag chairs, which allow people to decompress.

“I encourage you to sit in one of these. It gives you a nice warm hug,” KultureCity executive director Uma Srivastava said of the bean bag chairs.

TD Garden is one of 67 venues in New England that offer guests sensory bags, which include noise-cancelling headphones, fidget items and other resources, but it is now the only venue with twice as many sensory rooms as any other venue in the world.
