Southampton FC predicted team lineup vs Hull City – Championship
The St Mary’s side picked up seven points from fixtures against Leeds United, Stoke City and Rotherham – it was only tinged with frustration due to a draw with the latter.
Martin has made tactical tweaks to encourage stability and solidity after conceding 19 goals in the first eight Championship matches.
Despite international duty for several, Martin is unlikely to make too many changes for today’s trip to Hull City by choice – here is how we think Saints will line up…
Goalkeeper
Gavin Bazunu returns to Saints off the back of a European qualifying clean sheet in a 4-0 win over Gibraltar and will hope to add a second for his club this weekend.
Defenders
Kyle Walker-Peters, Jan Bednarek and Ryan Manning should all retain their places with Martin ideally keeping a completely settled back four.
There was concern over a possible Taylor Harwood-Bellis injury, which could have opened the door again for Mason Holgate, but Martin confirmed his availability.
Midfielders
Flynn Downes told us he has gotten back to full fitness after his illness before signing, and he has made the holding midfield role his own.
In front of him, Will Smallbone and Stuart Armstrong should keep their places from the last three despite international involvement.
Attackers
Adam Armstrong and Kamaldeen Sulemana had the full two weeks to recharge and work with Martin and it makes them certain picks.
They could flank Charly Alcaraz, despite having returned from Argentina just days ago – if Alcaraz starts from the bench, Ryan Fraser could be next likely to start.
