West Coast confirm new jumper numbers for 2024

Some of the new players at the club have received some legendary West Coast jumper numbers, while a second-year Eagle will wear the number left empty by retiring captain Luke Shuey.

After a strong debut season at Lathlain for the Victorian, teenage attacker Noah Long has been given Shuey’s previous number 13, 13.

Long, wearing the No. 44 jumper, appeared in 19 games this season, which is the most of any new Eagle. He scored seven goals and averaged 11.05 possessions per contest.

As previously disclosed, Harley Reid, the first pick overall in the draft, will begin his bright AFL career wearing the No. 9 in royal blue and gold.

Most recently worn by triple All-Australian winner Nic Naitanui, Reid adopts the number that was first made famous by Brownlow winner and premiership star Ben Cousins.

Jumper numbers for 2024 have also been assigned to other draftees Archer Reid (No. 22), Harvey Johnston (No. 24), Clay Hall (No. 29), Loch Rawlinson (No. 36), and Coen Livingstone (No. 39).

In the Eagles’ locker room, Reid will be next to trade acquisition Tyler Brockman. Brockman, a former Hawthorn forward, was given the No. 10 jumper for his rookie year with West Coast.

Before leaving the team this off-season, Sam Petrevski-Seton wore that number for the previous two years.

The guernsey of retired premiership captain Shannon Hurn has been given to free agent Matthew Flynn, who moved to Perth from GWS.

Hurn, the current Eagles games record holder, played 332 of his 333 games with West Coast while wearing the No. 25 jumper.

The Eagles’ 2024 campaign will begin on Sunday, March 17, at Adelaide Oval against Port Adelaide as part of the Round 1 matchup.
