Big News About Minkah Fitzpatrick for the Steelers
The All-Pro safety will be returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pittsburgh — The All-Pro safety will be returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The squad is getting ready to see Minkah Fitzpatrick play in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals, which will be his first game back from a hamstring injury, according to teammate Damontae Kazee.
“Shoot, we know Minkah comes back this week,” Kazee said Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “A lot of us ain’t gonna be playing in those spots.”
For the past two weeks, Trenton Thompson has started alongside Kazee for the Steelers. The club turned to the practice squad to add depth after Keanu Neal was placed on injured reserve due to a rib ailment. Miles Killebrew, Kazee, and Thompson were their only available safety at this time.
Fitzpatrick’s return allowed the Steelers to switch to a three-safety group that included Thompson, Kazee, and Fitzpatrick. However, the defense should benefit merely from having its All-Pro playmaker back on the field as they approach the latter stretch of the regular season.
