Leeds United had six players on the treatment table going into the international break and Daniel Farke had

Six players remained on Leeds United’s injury list going into the international break. A fortnight off from matches gave everyone a clear window for trying to return, but it seems unlikely all six will be back for Daniel Farke at Millwall on Sunday.

Here is a run-down on who was injured coming into the break and when they could be expected back based on Farke and the club’s comments on their problems.

Junior Firpo

One of those attempting to sneek onto the bench at The Den may very well be the left-back. Firpo hasn’t been seen wearing Leeds gear since the final day of the previous campaign after spending the majority of preseason in the hospital.

Farke stated: “I also have to say we’ve got Junior Firpo, we’ve got Sam Byram who was outstanding there (at left-back)” in our most recent update on the Spaniard on September 1. So, at the very least, I’m hoping that both will be returning after the international break.

It appears that both of them are recovering well. Given how long Firpo has been out of action, it seems likely that he would only be given a chance to play on Sunday in an emergency if he had returned to full training before then.

Firpo’s comeback to the matchday squad may be more feasible for the games against Watford or Southampton.

David Cooper

Since the first day of the season, the skipper has been missing. Leeds United can confirm that Liam Cooper tore his plantar fascia during Sunday’s 2-2 Championship tie with Cardiff City, according to a club statement on August 8.

“As a result of the injury, the Whites captain is ruled out of action for up to eight weeks.” That estimate suggests Cooper will be back in action no later than October 4’s Queens Park Rangers clash, depending on how promising his progress is.

Patrick Bamford

There have been no updates on the striker’s hamstring injury since the pre-Cardiff City press conference on August 4. On that day, Farke said: “Patrick Bamford has got a hamstring injury, he won’t return before the first international break so he will miss definitely the next games.”
