Leeds United defender Junior Firpo is set to be sidelined until October as he recovers from a knee injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

According to the injury expert, the former Barcelona left-back has no ACL concerns because it is only a knee ligament tear.

The Athletic predicted at the end of July that the 27-year-old could return by September, but it appears that he won’t be entirely ready to play first-team football until next month.

Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, said exclusively to MOT Leeds News about Firpo, According to current reports, he is roughly a month away from recovering from his knee ligament injury.

“We don’t have any specifics other than a general ‘knee ligament injury,’ but based on the timeline, this appears to be a Grade 3 non-ACL injury.”

“The player has no ACL concerns, and he should begin training in the next week or two as he prepares for action.”

Firpo and Leeds will be relieved that it was not an ACL injury, which would have kept him out for the whole of the season.

The left-back has yet to play for the Whites this season, with Sam Byram filling in.

Pascal Struijk has also played there in the past, so he could fill in at left-back this season as well.
