Five-time All Australian defender Alex Rance has joined the SUNS.
Five times. Alex Rance, an Australian defender, has signed the SUNS, although they won’t be competing until 2024.
Rance is set to take on a dual role as a Leadership Consultant in the SUNS football department and an advocate for LOOP Logics, the team’s newest business partner.
A two-year deal with LOOP, a Gold Coast-based construction management software business, is in place with the club until the end of 2025.
Rance said he was excited to be joining the SUNS in a multi-faceted role.
“From a football perspective, I was really excited to come to the Gold Coast, I really love the trajectory of the football club,” Rance said.
“I’m looking forward to working with the players and staff to help grow our leadership capacity. We have some great people at the SUNS and evolving with them is something I am really excited about.
“From a LOOP perspective, we’ve partnered with the SUNS because we want people to have more time to go to the footy with their kids and live a fit and healthy lifestyle, spending less time on the frustrating and annoying admin tasks that running a construction business can bring.”
Gold Coast SUNS General Manager of Commercial Andrew Thomas said the new partnership with LOOP aligned on many fronts.
“LOOP is revolutionising the way clients can approach managing their construction business and being based on the Gold Coast, it appealed to us to align with a like-minded organisation who can grow with us,” Thomas said.
“The SUNS play a strong role in the construction industry through a number of club partners, which appealed to LOOP through the B2B opportunities we can provide both on match day and in general.
“Our focus as a club remains on building meaningful relationships with our commercial partners to achieve outcomes which are beneficial for all involved.”
LOOP Logics Chief Operating Officer Garry Rich said the organisation was delighted to join forces with the SUNS for the next two years.
“At LOOP, our core focus is to keep things simple for our clients so they can spend more time doing the things they enjoy in life,” Rich said.
“By partnering with the SUNS, we are able to showcase our product to a wider audience and engage in greater B2B opportunities.
“We are really excited to work with another Gold Coast organisation that performs on the national stage – which is where we aspire to get to at LOOP Logics.
“We encourage anyone who is interested to learn more about what we do to get in touch via our website.”
GC SUNS General Manager of Football Performance Wayne Campbell said Rance would bring invaluable experience to his role within the football program.
“We are excited to have Alex involved with the club next year in a part-time capacity in the leadership and mental skills space,” Campbell said.
“Throughout his playing career, Alex proved himself to be the ultimate professional through his mental preparation and mindset which we believe is an area he can add value to our playing group off the field.
“In his time with Richmond, Alex worked closely with Damien Hardwick, and understands the program he is looking to implement at the SUNS after spending many years as vice-captain and in the leadership group.”
