DEC 19 AARON RODGERS OUT VS. COMMANDERS Rumors of Aaron Rodgers’ return against the Washington Commanders won’t come to fruition.

The New York Jets quarterback went on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show for his weekly appearance and said  he isn’t medically cleared to return. Earlier this month, Rodgers was reportedly eyeing a return on Sunday against the Commanders.

The Jets were eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday with their 30-0 loss to the Miami Dolphins, which likely factored into his decision to return.

The Commanders face the Jets on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium.

Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. was ruled out on Friday due to a hamstring injury. He suffered the injury on Dec. 3 against the Miami Dolphins and was unable to practice on Wednesday or Thursday.

Defensive end James Smith-Williams is also out with a hamstring injury. Tight end Curtis Hodges was placed on the Injured Reserve due to a back injury.

Rookie cornerback Emmanuel Forbes will be active against the Rams. Forbes, who practiced fully throughout the week, had missed Washington’s last two games due to an elbow injury.

Washington will get a boost on the offensive line with the return of Saahdiq Charles. He was activated off of the Injured Reserve after missing six games with a calf injury.

The Commanders (4-9) face the Rams (6-7) at 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
