As the clubs get ready for a pivotal matchup at Parkhead, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone didn’t hold back on praise for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic team.
The Argentine tactician expressed his admiration for Celtic’s style of play, noting their high-tempo game and commendable transition play.
Simeone has been with the Spanish side for 12 years, and has recently penned a new deal with the club.
“Celtic is a tough rival, with some really strong players.
“I really admire the way they play football and it is going to be a tough game.
“We are going to approach the game with a lot of enthusiasm and vigour.
“In their games against Lazio and Feyenoord, especially in the first 60-70 minutes, Celtic played at a really high tempo.
“They have a solid system that they stuck to and are effective at transition. They’ll press you in your own half, and this is a really old stadium to play in.
This season, Celtic has shown promise in the Champions League, but they lack the evidence to support it.
On Wednesday night, Brendan Rodgers plans to defeat the Spanish team in order to get some points. Wins are essential if Celtic is to advance in Europe after the holidays.
The Celts face a significant challenge, but maybe their efforts will result in some victories.
