a Bournemouth triumph
Arsenal defeated AFC Bournemouth 4-0 yesterday to maintain their perfect start to the 2023–24 season. Only two Premier League teams remain undefeated after seven games, including the Arsenal.
The team of Mikel Arteta gained three more points thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and Ben White, bringing them to within one point of Manchester City. The two will meet next week in a thrilling early-season match.
Arteta expressed his joy at the victory by saying, “Very happy.” “Based on the manner we approached the game, I believe the team had been prepared to play since yesterday. We were aware that we were up against a formidable opponent because, based on their performance thus far, I believe they don’t deserve to be where they are.
“They don’t give you any time, it’s a small pitch and it’s difficult to get out of that.. We read the game very well and earned the right to win it.”
Saka injury concern
Mikel Arteta has provided the latest on Bukayo Saka’s injury after he was forced to come off during Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth. Midway through the second half with Arsenal three goals up Saka went down after being caught by the follow through while trying to block a shot from Milos Kerkez.
Saka was not the only injury concern on the day for Arsenal. Gabriel Jesus also appeared to pick up an injury late on in the game after the Gunners had made all five of their substitutions.
Jesus went down close to the Bournemouth goal and waited to receive treatment, but the game was restarted before the Arsenal physio could enter the pitch. Noticing the game had restarted Jesus then hopped up before jogging gingerly back towards his own half to help defend.
Now Arteta has provided the latest on both players in his post-match press conference. “I don’t [know] yet as I haven’t had a chance to speak to him,” the Spaniard said when asked about Saka’s injury and whether it was in the same area as the Spurs one. “I think it was a stamp in the same area but Gabi was limping as well after the game so let’s see how they are
