Arteta gives Saka injury update after outrageous challenge on Arsenal star
Bukayo Saka is now questionable for Arsenal’s upcoming match after being taken off midway through their match against Crystal Palace.
Bukayo Saka was’very sore’ on Monday night, according to Mikel Arteta, who also thinks James McArthur should have received a straight red card for the child’s foul.
Saka was removed midway into Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace due to an errant kick by McArthur. The forward first made an effort to keep going but eventually gave up due to the injury. Albert Sambi Lokonga entered in his place as a result.
However, the referee, Mike Dean, only issued McArthur a yellow card, much to Arteta’s chagrin. Saka could only watch helplessly as the Palace midfielder continued to help his team earn a point.
In regards to Saka’s injury, Arteta informed Sky Sports, “We had to take him off because he could not continue.”
He had a lot of pain there. I find it difficult to comprehend how the player can carry on playing after watching the action.
When asked if McArthur should have been dismissed, the Arsenal manager said, “Absolutely.”
Despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s early goal, Christian Benteke and Odsonne Edouard struck to give Palace a 2-1 advantage under the direction of Patrick Vieira. In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Alexandre Lacazette scored an equalizer, saving a point for Arsenal.
Will Saka be available for the Gunners’ upcoming match against Aston Villa on Friday at the Emirates?
During his pre-game press conference, Arteta remarked, “We’ll see how it develops [the injury]].”
“He could not continue and he’s a boy that is pretty tough and wants to keep playing, but he could not carry on. We have a quick turnaround after the next game so we will see how it evolves.”
