Traveling Lions fans are overwhelming the Saints general manager, he says.
Mickey Loomis, general manager of the Saints, said the number of Lions supporters at the club’s home game in Week 13 “caught off guard” him and the squad.
In the end, the New Orleans Saints were unable to complete an incredible comeback against the Detroit Lions in Week 13. New Orleans’ season hasn’t started off well since they can’t seem to find their rhythm. The fact that the squad may be losing its infamous home-field advantage toward the end of the season doesn’t help either.
This year’s traveling Lions support base was evident throughout the Saints game. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, general manager Mickey Loomis said that he and the squad were overwhelmed by the volume of spectators in the Super Dome.
At some of our road games, we’re used to seeing a sizable contingent of Saints supporters. That number of out-of-town supporters at our game is something we’re not used to. Every season, our stadium sells out. Having so many tickets that are resold and, you know, handed to out-of-town fans is disheartening. However, see, I get the economics of it. I am aware that season tickets are pricey and that you are unable to attend every game, so you will have to sell some of them. But as you mentioned, the volume in the lower bowl threw me a bit off guard. That was out of the ordinary, and yeah, I get that, but that doesn’t mean I have to agree.
