Novo closed this month after it was taken over by new ownership earlier in the year

A Northumberland restaurant popular with North East celebrities has closed its doors unexpectedly.

The restaurant was opened by Geordie Shore star Greg Lake in autumn 2021, and was popular among Newcastle United stars and local celebrities. Karl Darlow and Chris Wood posted photos on their Instagram channels after the latter arrived from Burnley in January 2022 praising Novo’s Sunday Roast.

Kieran Trippier, another January ’22 arrival, was also a fan, while Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison also posted her love for Novo. The restaurant on Wellway launched a new menu on its social media channels in May 2023, serving brunch and cocktails alongside lunch and evening meals. But just three months later, the restaurant is now listed as permanently closed on Google.

The Novo Facebook and Instagram pages have also been removed. ChronicleLive approached Novo over multiple channels but has received no response as to why the restaurant closed so suddenly.
