Ahead of EURO 2024, former Stoke City and FC Porto defender targets will rejoin the Netherlands national team.
AZ Alkmaar defender Bruno Martins Indi is hoping to catch the attention of Netherlands national team head coach Ronald Koeman. According to Voetbal International, the 31-year-old former Stoke City and FC Porto player is hoping to make his way back into the Netherlands squad ahead of next summer’s European Championships in Germany.
Martins Indi missed almost all of last season due to a serious thigh injury, but thankfully the Portuguese-born centre-back is back in action for AZ. The former Feyenoord defender has made several appearances as a substitute this season and feels ready to start games again. ‘I have clear goals in mind. I want to regain my starting position at AZ and continue to develop myself as a player and contribute to AZ’s ambitions and to bring the Champions League back to Alkmaar,’ Bruno Martins Indi told VI.
Bruno Martins Indi kicked off his professional career with Feyenoord in 2010. He featured 114 times for the club before joining FC Porto. The next club added to his CV was Stoke City, who paid nearly €8m for the defender following an initial loan spell. After making 137 appearances for the Potters, 52 of them coming in the Premier League, Bruno Martins Indi returned to the Netherlands. Now, his eyes are set on a return to the national team.
