Wests Tigers under Wests Tigers make a $4.9 million play for NRL player Jarome Luai.
The development comes after the Sydney Morning Herald revealed that Tigers coach Benji Marshall had personally made a secret pitch to Luai at the Penrith playmaker’s home.
The Panthers extended offer of A$1.7 million over two years, which Luai has so far chosen not to take, is dwarfed by the Tigers bid. Marshall thinks he can turn the team around Luai, who, should he decide to go from the foot of the mountains, will have the opportunity to be the main playmaker.
The Luai interest is being observed at a period of uncertainty surrounding David Klemmer’s future at the joint venture company. Klemmer has a mutual option to extend his contract through the end of 2025.
The Tigers won’t obstruct him, though, if an other team is willing to make a long-term offer.
