11 year old child in critical condition after being struck by a transport truck driver in Etobicoke while crossing the street for school
An 11-year-old child was hit by a transport truck driver on Friday morning while he was heading to school in Etobicoke with some friends, according to Toronto police, and is currently in serious condition.
Just prior to nine in the morning, the boys were making their way to Elms Junior Middle School, which is located nearby. According to Toronto Police Service Duty Inspector Jeff Bangild, one of the boys disregarded the advice of his friends and entered the intersection at Albion Road and Elmhurst Drive without signaling. He was hit and seriously hurt by a big Food Basics transport truck that was traveling north on Albion Road when it had the green light.
